OUR STORY

Fire Equipment Maintenance Group (FEMG) was established in Port Augusta in July 2000 by Founders Darren McNamee, Ramon Kruger, Garry Gliddon and Wade Kammermann. They came together to take the opportunity and fill a hole in the regional market to offer the community skills, services, education and protection regarding residential, commercial and industrial Fire Protection.

Starting with four vans and one administration employee, FEMG grew to boast a fleet of 16 vehicles, two management employees, two administration assistants and in excess of 14 technicians. Our Directors and Technicians travel to service all over South Australia having built a reliable and professional reputation.

FEMG became a Corporate Member of the Fire Protection Association Australia in November 2000 and a member of the National Fire Industry Association in January 2008. FEMG is also a member of Business SA.

In July 2019, one of our Founders, Garry Gliddon, retired which lead to a slight change in company name with FEMG now being known as Fire Equipment Maintenance Group Pty Ltd. Our Directors, Darren, Ramon and Wade have been in the forefront ensuring that our reputation and services remain reliable, efficient and professional.

OFFICE WORKSHOP FACILITIES

Fire Equipment Maintenance Group Pty Ltd began with two office workshops located within two Directors houses, one in Port Augusta and the other in Port Pirie. As our company continued to expand, we relocated to larger premises.

FEMG purchased our current office and workshop at 17 Trent Road, Port Augusta in February 2005. This workshop provides Pressure and Hydrostatic testing, refilling and rejuvenation of fire extinguishers. We can also provide servicing of other portable fire safety equipment. Our Port Augusta Office also has a large well stocked Storeroom. Port Augusta also has an onsite Workshop Technician available to help you with any queries you may have.

CO2 extinguishers are tested by an independent company and recharged at our Port Augusta workshop.

In 2009, FEMG moved to our Port Pirie office and workshop at 71c Esmond Road. While this workshop is smaller, we can still conduct most servicing on your extinguishers and other fire safety equipment. We also have a storeroom should you require to purchase any new stock.

To assist our clients we have in excess of 250 loan extinguishers. These units are used to replace clients extinguishers when we take them off site for their Hydrostatic testing so we don’t leave a clients site unprotected.

OUR VISION

FEMG has established itself a reputation for high quality, reliable and professional servicing throughout South Australia. FEMG has a very fortunate history and has already undergone many changes and evolved. Changes to the current Government Regulations have meant significant changes are ahead for FEMG, as of January 2020 Fire Protection Technicians must be accredited and licenced to complete any servicing. This means all our Technicians, old and new, are completing Certificate ll and lll in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing, with the option of additional accreditations. 

This is great for our company as it provides our Technicians with a nationally recognised Certificate and career stability within our industry. We currently have a broad client range and are constantly adding to our client list, we recognise that for FEMG to continue to grow and prosper the relationships between our Clients and all who work within FEMG need to remain strong. It’s an exciting time for Fire Equipment Maintenance Group Pty Ltd and we look forward to all the challenges our industry provides.
